FAQ
What makes Nakhrro prints different?
They’re not posters. These are archival pigment prints on museum-grade paper or canvas.
Will I see brushstroke detail?
Yes. Our scans capture every nuance of the original hand-painted work.
Paper or canvas—which one should I pick?
Paper is smooth and matte. Canvas has texture and depth. Both are archival.
How long will it last?
With proper care, 80–100 years. Trusted by museums worldwide.
Is framing available?
Yes. We offer framing in wood, metal, or fiber on request.
Four ceremonial elephants, four different processions. Each painting documents a different configuration of howdah, rider, and attendant, drawn with the precision of a visual record and the palette of a court commission. The set was made to be looked at the way an emperor looks at a parade, one by one, then all together.
The compositions belong to the Company School tradition, the genre of Indian painting produced in the 19th century when Indian artists painted for British patrons who wanted documentary studies of Indian life, ceremony, and spectacle. Elephants dressed for procession were among the most requested subjects. The painters rendered them with botanical-illustration accuracy. Crimson caparisons, gilded howdahs, tasselled trappings, green silk umbrellas, and the bare-legged attendants who walked alongside them all recorded on a pale stone ground.
Produced as museum-grade archival prints on heavyweight 310 GSM cotton paper. Pigment inks rated for 100+ years of fade resistance. The restrained stone and ivory ground of the original paintings is preserved with archival fidelity. Deep reds and muted golds read clearly at gallery scale without oversaturation.
Hangs as a two-by-two grid above a console, sideboard, or daybed. The square grid suits rooms that ask for symmetry. The stone palette sits comfortably against lime wash, aged plaster, and warm wood, the kind of surfaces that make the reds in each painting read as placed rather than loud. Works in a living room, a formal dining room, a study, or a heritage-influenced entryway.
Collectors and interior designers choose Company School elephant prints for the same reason 19th century British collectors commissioned them. They are rare, precise, and read as credentialed rather than decorative. The subject is globally legible, the visual language is Indian, and the set format means the wall arrives decided.
Available in sizes from 8x12 to 30x40 inches per print, with all four supplied in matched dimensions. Framing optional. Sold as a complete set of four.

FAQ
Is this a set of original paintings or prints?
This is a set of four museum-grade archival prints from the Company School tradition of 19th century Indian painting. For hand-painted originals in this tradition, write to the studio for current availability.
Where can I buy antique Indian elephant prints online?
Right here. Every print is produced in-house at Nakhrro on archival cotton paper, packed for archival pieces, and shipped from Jaipur with full tracking.
Are all four prints supplied in matched sizes?
Yes. The set is supplied as four matched prints in identical dimensions. The size chosen at checkout applies to every print in the set.
Are these archival quality Indian art prints?
Yes. Each print is produced on 310 GSM cotton-based archival paper using pigment inks rated for 100+ years of fade resistance. The same standard used by museums and serious collectors.
Do the prints come framed?
Framing is offered as an add-on in select finishes. Choose framed or unframed at checkout. Unframed prints ship rolled in protective tubes. Matched framing across all four is recommended for the gallery wall effect.
Can I order this elephant set in a larger size for a living room wall?
The set is available from 8x12 to 30x40 inches per print. For sizes beyond the listed range, custom sizing is available on request. Larger sizes work well as a four-panel statement above a long console or sideboard.
Can I buy fewer than four prints?
The set is curated as a complete four. Individual Company School elephant prints are available separately in the Antique Indian Prints collection.
How should I arrange the gallery wall?
The set is designed to hang as a two-by-two grid. Spacing of two to three inches between frames reads cleanest. The studio is happy to advise on wall dimensions and layout for your space.
What materials are used?
310 GSM archival cotton paper and pigment-based inks. Framed versions use solid wood mouldings with acid-free mounting board. Anti-reflective glazing available on request.
How does shipping work?
Domestic India delivery takes 5 to 7 working days. International orders dispatched via FedEx with full tracking, packed with corner guards and moisture-resistant wrapping. The set ships in coordinated packaging.
