About the paintings

In a densely composed scene, the eye moves between figures, animals, foliage and ornament. In a geometric work, attention shifts to the rhythm of lines and the precision of repeated shapes. Both approaches depend on the painter’s control and sustained attention.

Natural pigments are central to the collection, with the support and any gold or silver work specified for each painting. These details are part of the artwork’s character, alongside its subject and composition.
